Born and raised in Northern New Jersey, I attended Rutgers University for a Bachelors in History and English Literature. After working in educational publishing for a couple of years, I transitioned to the educational field and began a Master's of Arts in Teaching program at Montclair State University specializing in Special Education and Early Childhood Education.
As a Special Education teacher specializing in executive functioning support, I develop and implement individualized accommodations and modifications for students with IEPs (Individualized Education Programs). Throughout my career, I've witnessed firsthand how executive functioning challenges including difficulties with time management, organization, planning, and task initiation can significantly impact a student's academic potential, regardless of their intelligence or capability.
I've designed and led targeted executive functioning small group sessions for middle school students, helping them build essential life skills such as breaking down complex projects into manageable steps, creating effective study systems for major exams, and developing prioritization strategies that balance academic responsibilities with extracurricular activities. My approach focuses on teaching students practical, sustainable strategies they can use independently, transforming overwhelming tasks into achievable goals.
What sets my work apart is understanding that executive functioning skills aren't just about getting organized they're about building confidence, reducing anxiety, and helping students discover their own capacity for success. I've seen students go from feeling constantly behind to becoming self advocates who can manage their workload with confidence.
